What is a DNS Leak?

A DNS leak occurs when your DNS requests are sent outside your proxy or VPN tunnel, revealing your browsing activity to your ISP. This happens when your system uses default DNS servers instead of the proxy's DNS servers.

Why DNS Leaks Matter

  • Your ISP can see which websites you visit
  • Your real location may be exposed
  • Websites can detect you're using a proxy
  • Your privacy and anonymity are compromised

How to Fix DNS Leaks

  • Use a proxy provider with built-in DNS protection
  • Configure your system to use secure DNS servers (like 1.1.1.1 or 8.8.8.8)
  • Use DNS-over-HTTPS (DoH) or DNS-over-TLS (DoT)
  • Disable IPv6 if your proxy doesn't support it
